When we first started designing the Art Candle Collection, we knew we wanted to treat the jars as small canvases for the art — not use art as mere decoration to beautify them.
We also wanted to find a way to extend the life of each jar long past the candle’s use.

I’ll be honest: I don’t fully understand the word reconciliation. The word makes it sound like two sides patching things up after a fight. But what happened here wasn’t a fight between equals. It was a system designed to erase Indigenous cultures, languages, and families. That’s not something you just “make peace” over.

In many Indigenous cultures, there was no written language. But that didn’t mean there was no history. It meant that history lived differently—through story, song, and visual traditions. The meaning of Indigenous art lies in that role: it carried knowledge, memory, and identity across generations. Artists weren’t just creative—they were record-keepers, teachers, and community voices. In many places, they still are.
